Supernatural Time Management

By BOB LANCER

The better you use your time, the better time you have.  If you are rushing to get things done "on time" you are not having a very good time. You feel stressed, overwhelmed, insecure and out of control.

The more efficiently you use time, the more you can accomplish. But time loses its meaning, its value, when you push yourself so hard that you push your peace, love, and joy out of this moment.

Think about how masters in any field perform. One who has mastered the art of dance demonstrates ease and joy, creating beauty, expressing love, experiencing ecstatic states of inspiration. To master your time means to create something heavenly of this moment.

All too often teachers of time management overlook the essential importance of the quality of our time. When this factor is left out, no matter how much you accomplish, your success delivers no satisfaction.  Real time management needs to center on how to find fulfillment in the present.

Masters create beauty that seems miraculous.  Their creations take us above the human, above the natural level. They link us to a sense of the supernatural.  What this article is really about is supernatural time management.

To experience true fulfillment in the present moment involves trusting that whatever is happening right now is just right.  In other words, trusting that whatever time you have and whatever is happening right now is always under supernatural time management.  Although you may not be able to fully understand how this moment can be perfect, trusting in its perfection helps you to experience it.

We all have some degree of control over what we do with our time. But there are limits to our experience of control. Someone in front of us may make us wait.  Someone may slow us down by distracting our attention.  We ourselves may make errors that cost us time.  But every experience in life offers us a lesson in how to live life more wisely, to make better choices, to make more of the time we have.

Trusting in what you cannot control does not mean giving up all control.  You always have some power to control what you do with each moment, and with that power comes responsibility. If you pay too little attention to what you do with your time, your life will slip away.

To the extent that you use your time well, you are working on what is truly most important to you.  That is what real time efficiency means.  It does not simply mean performing a task in the soonest amount of time possible.  It means performing the task that is truly right for you.  You need to know yourself, your goals, your priorities, to be truly efficient.  Otherwise you waste your time on what matters less.

You can only do one thing at a time. Real time efficiency requires taking time out of activity to evaluate the purpose of your activity.  Write down your goals and then arrange them in the order of their priority. Be sure to attend first to what truly matters most.

Your time is always your own. Others may make demands upon you, but it is up to you to decide upon what you do next, what you do now. Receiving another's directions does not relieve you of the responsibility for directing your own life. Even when another person seems to cause a stall in your life, how you handle that stall, your attitude toward it, what you do with the time that you have, is entirely up to you.

There may be no greater waste of time than blaming others for wasting our time.  Every moment is an opportunity to find your way into greater success and fulfillment.
